Creating images using AI

Below are just a few examples of the images we’ve created using AI

Newsletter post – to illustrate “ways you can talk to AI”

newsletter ways to talk to AI - ChatGPT

This was my very first attempt (months ago) at an image using AI (ChatGPT).

It took me many iterations to get close to what I wanted. But I never got it just right. And AI kept making mistakes with the text (e.g. “UPLOADE A PHOTO” and “UPLOADNG”). A common issue with AI images.

From this I learnt how to get to what I needed in just a few prompts and how to avoid the issue with the text labels.

I ended up cutting out the smaller images and pasting them individually into an image editing program (I used SnagIt) and adding the text manually – which worked really well.

This was simple and quick using ChatGPT

Prompt: “I’d like a hand holding nothing with palm facing up and transparent background”

Newsletter post – “ChatGPT’s new group chat feature” – using Gemini

This is an example of being able to generate a “good enough” image with only two attempts. If I’d prepared longer, I could probably have made it in one go.

Prompt 1: “I’d like an image to illustrate the new “Group chat” feature in ChatGPT. I have an idea of two hands typing on two keyboards – which are connected (perhaps with a colourful band) into one screen with the ChatGPT logo in it. Before generating an image can you give me four alternative concepts.”

Prompt 2 + Image 1: “I’d like the “digital campfire” option. But remove a single location, showing that they could be anywhere in the world.”

Prompt 3 + Image 2: I wanted the people reflect our existing audience better while still retaining a broad selection – so ethnicity, age and device use. So … “Please make two people white-skinned, one person in their 60s and one in their 70s. Two people using laptops and two using tablets or phones.”

“You gave me confidence to carry on by myself to explore how AI can help me, but also affirmed the value of my own hand-draw graphics.”

“I realised that I do not need to give up my own autonomy and ability and let AI do everything! I can learn discernment and differentiate between what I can already do myself and what AI can do better.”
